Sparks Fly - August 2008

You've been directed to this page because you either want to read Sparks Fly, or have come back to re-read it.  It's been moved away, but I want to let you know why and to reassure you that it will always be available for Gundam Wing and fancyfigures' fans.

Just not here!

It's a favourite fic of mine and I'm very proud of the original plot that i developed for it.  As a result, I converted it earlier this year to an original novel.  That involved changing the characters, of course, and not just their names but some of their characteristics and some of the scenes.  I've added over 20k extra words and another scene and many other refinements.  I think that my writing has improved a great deal since I first wrote this, and although I'm very fond of it in this version, this gave me the chance to rewrite some of it. 

And it's been accepted for publication at Dreamspinner Press! It's released in both paperback and e-book on August 1 2008, the BUY link is here.

I'm thrilled about this, and I hope that the fans who've followed my progress in the original fiction world will be supportive.  It's a big and important and exciting step for me, to reach even more readers with my story.

However, it had to come down from this site.  The generally accepted rules are :

(i) that no more than 10% of a published work should be available for free anywhere else, which is fair enough for me and my publisher who are trying to make a career out of this, and

(ii) that I shouldn't be seen to make any money out of fanfiction.

I've never tried to do this, I enjoy writing fanfiction for free and for sharing, because we all love the characters.  But this plot appealed so much to me that I wanted to make more of it.  The new version is significantly different, I believe, but not enough to allow for the possibility that someone will read it on this site, misunderstand the background, and get aggrieved. I don't need that.  So it had to come down.

This message first went up in June 2008, to allow any visitors to save the fic to their own hard drives if they wanted to, before it was withdrawn.
