said Duo, arms thrown wide.
"Huh?" Heero frowned.
"Hug!" demanded Duo, His head tilted to one side, his eyes widening. "That's what you need! Come here and make it happen."
"For God's sake," Heero grumbled. "It's not like a hug is going to make any damned difference..."
"You know that for a fact, do you?"
Heero frowned again. "You know what I mean. Look, I know you mean well, but really, I can sort this out myself..."
"Let me help, Heero." Duo took a couple of steps forward. His arms were still wide open. Heero could see the sympathy in his eyes, feel the warmth of his body heat. "Don't be the tight-ass they all think you are."
Heero opened his mouth to protest and in that moment Duo slipped his arms around him and hugged him firmly. His head rested on Heero's shoulder and he sighed, gently. "That's better, see?"
Heero stood rock still for a second, frustrated with what he saw as the other man's idiocy. Duo's chest was tight against him and he could feel his steady heartbeat. His arms were strong but surprisingly comforting around Heero. His breath was brushing at Heero's ear.
Then Heero lifted his own arms and slid them around Duo. He wasn't sure why he did that, but it felt good. It seemed the right thing to do. It seemed to make them fit better.
Heero smiled, though his head was nestling into Duo's shoulder and his friend couldn't see it. "You're right. That is better," he murmured. And he tightened his arms around Duo.
